IDEA.org Redesign / Blog Design

WebExhibits Main Site Redesign
Launched in 1999, WebExhibits was one of the first online museums, and now receives over eight million visitors each year. The web site presents interactive exhibits covering science, technology, engineering, mathematics, humanities, and culture. There were two progressive redesigns over a couple of years. The first redesign addressed the dated look of the previous site. The solution included a compelling new index and auxiliary pages for the main site as well as updated designs for the subordinate exhibit sites. The new index design relied on a central interactive object and used iconic photo elements to provide brief descriptions and access to exhibit sites. A second redesign made the site fully available on emerging Apple iOS devices by replacing the main Flash object with HTML and CSS content. The site was also given a fresh new look that remains consistent with the museum theme.
